(JEFFERSON CITY)--The Missouri Supreme Court heard arguments Wednesday about the constitutionality of 170 million dollars in budget cuts announced by Governor Jay Nixon. Auditor Tom Schweich has challenged the cuts made public in June 2011. A Cole County judge ruled Nixon had a right to make the cuts in state spending, but also said the governor shouldn’t have been able to transfer money designated for other purposes. Lawyers are Nixon and Schweich offered oral arguments about whether the governor had that power before the court.
