Corn in Missouri is progressing at a faster rate than last year.

The latest weekly report from the federal government shows silking is more than 50 percent ahead of the rate in 2013 and 22 percent ahead of the five-year average. The condition of the corn crop was rated as 84 percent good to excellent.

Soybeans also are well ahead of last year, with 77 percent in good to excellent condition. The winter wheat harvest is 95 percent complete, which puts it ahead of last year’s rate.
