The trial of a Las Vegas man charged in connection of the death of his father in Hannibal in 2015 has been delayed.

The attorney for 31 year old Carl Goldberg filed for a continuance in Monroe County Circuit Court last week. Judge David Mobley granted the continuance and asked attorneys for both sides to submit possible trial dates in August, September and October.

Goldberg’s trial was to have begun June 21st.

Goldberg is charged with second degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with the death of 84 year old Carl Maxwell in February of 2015.

Goldberg is alleged to have shot his father in the head and chest with a crossbow, then left his body in a deep freeze in a vacant Hannibal residence.

Maxwell’s body was found in October of 2015, with Goldberg arrested in Las Vegas about a week later.

Goldberg is in the Marion County Jail on a million dollars bond.
