We all start to get in the holiday spirit during the month of November. Here’s a look at fun things to do around the Quincy/Hannibal area in November 2015.

  • 50 Miles of Art

    The fall edition of the twice-yearly 50 Miles of Art will be November 7-8. 50 Miles of Art allows the public to tour and visit the studios of artists and craftspeople that live and work along Highway 79 between Hannibal and Clarksville. " Each community has its own unique character and features different amenities for both the visitor and resident."

  • Veteran's Day Parades

    Both Quincy and Hannibal will honor veterans with Veteran's Day parades on November 7. The Hannibal parade will line up at 10:30 a.m. at Save-a-Lot. The parade begins at 11. It is free to be in the parade. Contact the American Legion in Hannibal at 221-9698 for more information.

    Quincy's 8th annual Veteran's Day Parade will feature a flyover of a C-130 from the Air National Guard. The parade will be at 10 a.m. and will begin at 12th and Maine and proceed to 5th and Maine. To enter, contact Dick McKinney at 430-2912, Luke Doellman at 617-3152 or Rob Snyder at 885-3078.

  • Quincy Service League Holiday Gift Show

    The Quincy Service League's Holiday Gift Show is a tradition that goes back decades. This year will mark the 47th annual Holiday Gift Show! Over 100 merchants with items like specialty foods, handcrafted clothes & quilts, holiday decorations, jewelry, outdoor garden & patio décor, hand blown glass and woodworking. The Holiday Gift Show will be at Quincy Senior High School November 21-22. Saturday hours are 10-4 and Sunday hours are 11-4.

  • Lights, Camera, Action!

    The Quincy Symphony Orchestra Association presents Lights, Camera, Action! on November 21 at Quincy Junior High's Morrison Theatre. Guest performers Ben Bumbry and the Messengers will join the orchestra for classic movie music. Trumpeter Aren Van Houzen will be featured on “With Malice Toward None” from the movie Lincoln. Orchestra selections include John Williams’ music from the Harry Potter series and Leonard Bernstein’s score from On the Waterfront. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Tickets for all QSOA concerts are available at the door on the day of the concert for $18 adults, $15 seniors.

  • Avenue of Lights

    Avenue of Lights will return to Quincy in 2015 thanks to the Quincy Exchange Club. Over 500,000 cars have gone through Avenue of Lights at Moorman and Wavering Parks in Quincy. Avenue of Lights features more than 350 separate pieces and over 15 miles of lights. Avenue of Lights is open Thanksgiving through New Year's.

  • Mark Twain's 180th Birthday Bash

    The Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum will be celebrating Mark Twain's 180th birthday with a Birthday Bash on November 28. Events include a Mustache Competition, a Masquerade Mask Art Show, and the unveiling of commemorative Mark Twain Coins by the U.S. Mint.

  • Victorian Festival of Christmas

    Hannibal's historic Main Street will celebrate the holidays with the Victorian Festival of Christmas November 28 through Christmas Eve. Horse-drawn carriages, carolers, holiday tea parties, beautifully decorated storefronts and visits from Santa will be part of the downtown celebration.

  • The Winter Wonderettes

    The Winter Wonderettes will take the stage at Quincy Community Theatre November 27-29, and December 3-6. This "retro holiday musical" opens the day after Thanksgiving and stars Kathy Roderick as “Missy,” the over-achiever of the group; Tina Moyer as “Cindy Lou,” a now reformed “bad girl” with an incredible soft side; Kristen Houston as Suzy, the happy-go-lucky, giggly, and very pregnant member of the group; and Amy Looten as “Betty Jean,” the self-anointed clown. Tickets go on sale November 2, and are $20.
