A former Gasconade County Sheriff's Office deputy is charged with sex crimes after an investigation that started more than two years ago.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 51-year-old Marty Rainey, of Sullivan, is charged in Gasconade County with acceding to corruption by a public servant, sexual assault, statutory rape and use of a child in a sexual performance. No attorney is listed for him in online court records.

The Gasconade County Sheriff's Office says an alleged victim told officials in October 2012 that said she had had several sexual encounters with Rainey and his friend. Rainey resigned from the department the next month. The Missouri State Highway Patrol was called to investigate further after the department received more complaints about Rainey.

Rainey's friend also faces sexual assault charges.
