A former southwestern Illinois school board president and junior varsity basketball coach will be sentenced next month after admitting he committed sexual misconduct with a child.

The (Alton) Telegraphreports that 41-year-old Rodney Bailey of Medora pleaded guilty Monday in Jersey County to one of three aggravated sexual abuse counts he had faced. That's punishable by up to seven years in prison.

The charges related to sexual wrongdoing in 1997. The investigation began last year, and Bailey was charged in August.

Bailey had been the Southwestern School District board president until May 2013, though a prosecutor says none of his victims were related to his association with the school system. He also was a Carlinville dentist.

His sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 18.
