Thursday was a confrontational day in the Curtis Lovelace retrial in Springfield.

Forensic Pathologist Dr. Werner Spitz took the stand in the morning for the prosecution, recounting his findings after reviewing crime scene photos and evidence gathered in connection with the death of Corey Lovelace.

The cross examination of Dr. Spitz by defense attorney Jon Loevy began about mid-morning and continued through the rest of the day.

Loevy questioned Spitz point-by-point on his findings, resulting in numerous objections and warnings to both attorneys by Judge Bob Hardwick.

Curtis Lovelace is alleged to have suffocated his first wife, Corey Lovelace, in their home in 2006. The first trial in Quincy a year ago ended in a hung jury.
