A long-standing Relay for Life teams expects to reach a milestone at its annual fundraiser Saturday.

The Palmyra based Flower Children Relay for Life team hosts its annual Spring Fling at the American Legion Hall in Palmyra.

As is the case with so many of these kinds of teams, according to Mark Bross, this team was formed when cancer struck close to home. The Flower Children were formed after Bross' mother was diagnosed with breast cancer.

This is the 18th annual Spring Fling, and the Flower Children expect to pass the $1-million dollar mark in money raised by the team for the American Cancer Society.

The evening features a social hour at 5 p.m., with dinner at 6 and an auction at 7.

The 2018 Marion County Relay for Life is June 1st at Flower City Park in Palmyra.
