A drug investigation in Canton, Missouri leads to 5 arrests.

Lewis and Clark County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Canton Police Department executed a search warrant Friday at a trailer located on South 3rd Street. Officers discovered an active meth lab and drug paraphernalia.

Two men were arrested at the scene Friday:  47-year-old Michael J. McGhghy of Canton is charged with a Class A Felony of Attempting to Manufacture a Controlled Substance near a school and paraphernalia charges. McGhghy was reportedly on probation for meth charges in Clark County. A Keokuk man, 26-year-old Matthew R. McKay was arrested on meth possession charges. Both were taken to the Lewis County Jail.

Officers returned to the residence Saturday and arrested three additional subjects: 31-year-old Angela R. Smith of Quincy was arrested for possession of the controlled substance Hydrocodone. Smith was taken to the Lewis County Jail.  24-year-old Amanda Kemp of Quincy was arrested on a felony warrant from the state of Tennessee. She awaits extradition proceedings. 24-year-old Joseph E. Krumey of Keokuk went to the Lewis County Jail on charges of meth possession and the controlled substance Xanax.

The Northeast Missouri Narcotics Task Force assisted in the investigation.
