Firefighters in the northeast Missouri town of Canton are keeping a close eye on an area of downtown after a fire that destroyed four buildings briefly reignited.

The original fire broke out Friday night, destroying three buildings used to store equipment for Janney Construction Co., and a building owned by Deep River Sinkers, a fishing equipment business.

WGEM-TV reports that firefighters were back on the scene Monday evening when witnesses saw flames at the site of the earlier fire. The fire was quickly extinguished, but Fire Chief Joe LaCount says hot spots remain a concern.

Canton police arrested two juveniles for starting another fire at a vacant house Friday night, but an investigation continues into whether they played a role in the downtown fire.
