(Hannibal, Mo)--A Hannibal man escapes injury after his house is destroyed by fire early Saturday morning.

The initial arriving engine company found heavy fire and smoke coming from the front and side of the single-story structure.  All Hannibal Fire Department stations responded with 8 firefighters.  Upon Hannibal Fire Department arrival, the single occupant had exited the structure.  Fire crews had the fire under control within 15 minutes of arrival.  The residence sustained heavy smoke and fire damage.  There were no injuries.  An investigator with the Missouri State Fire Marshall's Office was called in to investigate.  The Hannibal Fire Department was assisted by Hannibal Police, Marion County Ambulance, Board of Public Works, and the Missouri State Fire Marshall's Office."

 

Frame says the Missouri State Fire Marshall’s Office preliminary report ruled the cause as accidental in nature.

Demolition equipment was on site tearing down the charred remains Saturday afternoon.
