Fire Damages Quincy House

Fire investigators believe gasoline from an overturned gas can trickled into the basement to cause a house fire Thursday afternoon at 1021 South Fifth in Quincy.

The fire started as the gas reached the pilot light on a hot water heater. Quincy firefighters were called out around 1:45 p.m.

South Fifth was closed between Jefferson and Monroe for most of the afternoon as a result.
