(BOWLING GREEN)--A Frankford woman accused of destroying evidence used to convict a man of murder will go to trial July 18.

40-year-old Rebecca Jeanne Kirk is charged in Pike County with two felony counts of tampering with evidence.

Kirk is accused of damaging or trying to destroy a rifle, ammunition and clothing at the request of Calvin Duane Pettey on April 15 of 2010.

Petty was having an affair with Kirk even as he was engaged to Sandra Fugate of Hannibal. He was convicted last June of murdering Fugate on the same day he admitted the murder to Kirk. The killing happened just two days before Pettey and the victim were to be married.

Kirk admitted on the witness stand at Pettey’s trial that she followed through on the defendant’s request to destroy evidence.

A pre-trial hearing is June 25.
