(CHILLICOTHE)--  An Adams County native who faces a third murder trial may have caught a break.

A judge rules that a handgun and bullet cannot be used in the case against 38-year-old Mark Woodworth. The defendant is accused of killing Cathy Robertson and wounding her husband in 1990 on a farm near Chillicothe Missouri. Two previous convictions have been overturned.

The Missouri Attorney General’s Office told the Saint Louis Post-Dispatch that it was reviewing the latest ruling on the gun and bullet evidence. An attorney for Woodworth told the newspaper that the defendant may ask for a dismissal.
