An Illinois Department of Corrections inmate, escaped from a Peoria facility, has been caught in Quincy.

On Saturday, June 18, the Quincy Police Department was made aware that inmate Justin W. Happel, 25, had not returned to the Peoria Adult Transition Center. Happel, who has family in Adams County, was believed to have returned to Quincy.

Shortly after 4:30 pm, Quincy Police and the Adams County Sherrif's Office discovered Happel sitting in a pickup truck parked in Quincy's Kessler Park. Happel was transported to the Adams County Jail  and lodged on an Illinois Department of Corrections Escape warrant.

Happel is currently serving a four-year sentence for burglary and possession of a controlled substance.
