Quincy and Adams County emergency response agencies in conjunction with Blessing Hospital will conduct a simulated mass casualty exercise tomorrow at the Adams County Courthouse.

The scenario will involve a simulated explosion at the courthouse. Volunteer actors will be moulaged with mock injuries and instructed on how to act or present themselves to first responders. First response organizations will have to extricate victims from the building, triage, treat patients on-scene, and transport more than 40 critical victims to Blessing Hospital where the emergency department will test new procedures for overflow of patients.

The exercise will kick off somewhere between 10:00am and 11:00am and conclude around 2:00pm or 3:00pm at Blessing Hospital. Access to the immediate areas around the courthouse will be limited and streets will be closed. Broadway will remain open.
