(Quincy) – The Quincy Memorial Bridge was shut down for a time late Friday night as emergency personnel foiled an apparent suicide attempt.
At 10:18 p.m. Friday, officers responded to 911 calls concerning a subject climbing over the railing of Memorial Bridge. Police found a 40 year old white male had climbed over the railing on the north side of the bridge and was on a support girder below the bridge deck. The combined efforts of police and firefighters in the water and on the bridge resulted in the man being brought back onto the bridge unhurt. The man was taken to Blessing Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. The man’s name will not be released by Quincy Police.
