That’s all. Unless......

The next two nights can have a huge influence on the Prospect League West race in the second half.  The Terre Haute Rex have a 4 ½ game lead on the Cavemen as they come to Clemens Field Tuesday and Wednesday night.

The Cavemen have an opportunity to drag Terre Haute back to the pack. The Rex can also push Hannibal 6 ½ back with nine games left.

Meanwhile in Quincy, the Gems and Springfield Sliders match up for a two game series. Both teams are 9-8 in the second half.  Both will be rooting for Hannibal and obviously the Gems and Sliders would each like to sweep.

Over the next two nights, Hannibal and Quincy can set the stage for a mad scramble down the stretch if things go well. Wouldn’t it be interesting if the Cavemen-Gems game on Monday August 6th at Clemens Field was for a trip to Dubois County for a that Western Division playoff game?

Oh, by the way… the Western Division playoff winner has home field advantage for a best of three Prospect League Championship Series on August 9th, 11th and 12th.
