Fire investigators say an electrical problem caused Sunday’s fire at 1413 Fulton in Hannibal.

Fire crews were called to the scene at 3:19 Sunday afternoon where they found heavy smoke coming from the house. Investigators say no one was home at the time and that it did not have functioning smoke detectors. The fire department says the occupants entered the house to rescue pets and were able to save one dog and two cats. The house sustained heavy smoke, fire and heat damage. Hannibal firefighters emphasize the importance of getting out of the house and staying out in case of fire.
