A Hannibal man is held over for arraignment in connection with an incident involving the assault of a seven-week-old baby.

In Marion County Circuit Court Monday, Judge John Jackson found there was probable cause to hold 29-year-old Dustin Dye on charges of first degree assault.

Dye is alleged to have assaulted the infant, identified only as Nora, while he was in her care on June 3.

The baby’s mother told authorities she observed the baby was hurt when Dye picked her up from work. The child was taken to Hannibal Regional Hospital, then transferred to St. Louis Children’s Hospital for treatment.

Dye is in the Marion County Jail on $250,000 bond. An arraignment hearing is set for August 18.
