(BOWLING GREEN)--  The Pike County Sheriff’s Department is promising a crackdown on drunken driving.
Specific details aren’t being released, but Sheriff Stephen Korte says that the upcoming graduation season can only be safe if students remain sober.
He reminds young people that in addition to jail time, violators who are under 21 will have their licenses suspended and could be subject to higher insurance rates, attorney fees, court costs and other penalties.
In the last two years, 77 people were killed and more than 350 injured in Missouri crashes involving an impaired driver under age 21.
