Residents of the Illinois Veterans Home will get a steak dinner for Veterans Day, courtesy of a western Illinois company.

Officials with the Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs announced that Dot Foods in Mt. Sterling has donated 250 pounds of rib eye steaks to the home.

The steaks will be part of a special Veterans Day lunch Friday for the home’s 386 residents.

Officials with Dot Foods point out that they have increased the number of veterans hired in the last decade, and that military veterans make up 15 percent of its workforce.
