A Quincy man is in the Adams County Jail on a variety of charges as the result of a domestic disturbance early Sunday morning.

Quincy Police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at 2:45 a.m. Sunday.

The victim told officers she had been struck with a firearm by her boyfriend after leaving a nightclub in the 900 block of Hampshire. The disturbance continued when the victim got home and she contacted authorities.

At 9:10 a.m., officers searched the victim’s residence in the 1100 block of Adams Street, finding a handgun with the serial number scratched off and ammunition.

Taken into custody was 34 year old Deandre Hobson. He was charged with armed violence, Aggravated domestic battery, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number.

Hobson is currently on probation for two previous convictions and was out on bond on a more recent arrest.

Hobson is in the Adams County Jail.
