DockDogs

According to DockDogs, "The competitions are open to any and everyone. Teams are made up of one dog and one handler. Your canine must be 6 months or older to be eligible. Canines of any breed, size or shape are welcomed. Not only is the competition open to all types of canines, but also handlers above the age of 7 are welcomed. We even have a Youth Handler class for those who are between the ages of 7-14."

To register your dog, go to the DockDogs website and click "event registration." If you don't already have an account, you'll have to create one in order to register. Pre-registration is available up to one week prior to the competition.

Dogs can also be registered on-site at the beginning of each day.

Throughout the Great Outdoors Show, DockDogs will present three competitions:

Big Air Wave features dogs running down a 40’ dock and diving into a pool of water after an object, in which they are electronically judged for the length of their jump.

Extreme Vertical is a “high jump” for the dogs as they each lunge to snag a “bumper” suspended in the air. With each grab, the height increases in 2-inch increments until only one dog is crowned king.

Speed Retrieve is the newest form of competition, where the dogs are put on the clock to see how fast they can run down the dock, jump into the water, swim to the end of the pool and retrieve an object which is held by a modified extender arm.

DockDogs is the independent governing and sanctioning body for dock jumping and dock diving canine performance sports, the fastest growing sport for canines in North America.

The Great Outdoors Show will take place March 28 - 29 at the Oakley Lindsay Center. Tickets will be $6 for adults (which includes a 20-pack of Mt. Dew from Refreshment Services Pepsi), $2 for kids 15 and under, and kids 3 and under will be admitted free. All tickets will be sold at the door. A coupon good for a $1 discount on adult tickets will be available through Townsquare Media radio station websites.
