Bow hunters posted increases in both deer and turkey harvests during Missouri’s 2012-2013 archery season, topping the previous year’s total for the second year in a row.

The state’s Department of Conservation reports that hunters checked nearly 54,000 deer during the four-month season. That’s a 2.5 percent increase over the previous year.

Permit sales also increased. The MDC issued more than 202,000 permits, which was nearly 5 percent more than last year.
