The defendant was among those taking the stand as the first degree murder retrial of Curtis Lovelace continued Thursday in Springfield.

The defense continued presenting its case Thursday, with Pathologist Dr. William Oliver on the stand in the morning.

In the afternoon, Logan Lovelace took the stand in his father’s defense.

Then, defense attorney Jon Loevy called Curtis Lovelace himself to the stand. Lovelace did not testify in his first trial a year ago.

State prosecutor Ed Parkinson told the media Thursday that he expected closing arguments in the case to take place Friday.
