Curtis Lovelace Murder Retrial Enters Week Two

Week two of the Curtis Lovelace first degree murder retrial is underway in Springfield.

Monday morning’s proceedings began with Quincy Police Sgt. Jeff Baird returning to the stand. Baird conducted the original investigation into the death of Cory Lovelace.

Also scheduled to testify Monday are QPD Detective Adam Gibson, who reopened the Lovelace case in 2013, and Lovelace’s second wife, Erika Gomez, who had not been allowed to testify in Curtis Lovelace’s first trial a year ago.

Curtis Lovelace is alleged to have murdered Cory Lovelace in their Quincy home in 2006.

The case could go to the jury as early as the end of the week.
