Culver Stockton College is removing the interim tag from women’s basketball coach Janette Burgin.

Athletic Director Greg McVey says  “We have total confidence in Janette’s ability to return our program to prominence.  “We put her in a very challenging situation by naming her our interim coach, but she has performed admirably in these unique circumstances while bringing much-needed energy and excitement to our program in the short time she has been here.

"She has a comprehensive plan for improvement for every aspect of our basketball program, and she is the right person to lead our program into the future. We are confident she will have us back on the path for success in short order," said McVey, who decided to remove the interim tag after going through all the applications he had received for the position.

Burgin says she is excited and thrilled for the opportunity to be named head coach. She says the team is young and eager to learn which shows that they have a lot of potential.

“I want to thank Greg McVey, President (Richard) Valentine, and the rest of the Culver-Stockton staff and community for all the warm welcomes and support so far.”—Culver Stockton women’s basketball coach Janette Burgin.
