Forecasters say the first full week of October will be a cool and damp one in northeast Missouri and western Illinois.

The National Weather Service says a chance of rain moves into the area mid-afternoon Monday, with a better chance of showers and thunderstorms Monday night.

The best chance of precipitation for the week comes Wednesday night through Thursday night, with diminished chances of rain settling in Friday through Sunday.

Temperatures will cool off as the week progresses. Highs in the upper 60s to low 70s are predicted through Wednesday, dropping through the mid-60s to around 60 by the end of the week.

Nighttime lows start the week in the low 50s, with lows in the mid 40s more prevalent by the weekend.
