Clarksville is gearing up for a public meeting on flood prevention.

Three of the five worst deluges in town history have happened in the last eight years, and all of the top 10 have happened since 1973. The latest was just last year, and came in at number five.

Officials have agreed to buy a three-and-a-half-million-dollar portable flood wall. The city has called in the Mark Twain Regional Council of Governments to seek a grant to pay for it.

The public meeting is at 6:30 p.m. February 4 at City Hall.
