Congratulations to the City of Hannibal for health and wellness goals achieved.

The National League of Cities has recognized Hannibal for achieving objectives in the 'Let's Move!' initiative, part of First Lady Michelle Obama's efforts dedicated to solving the childhood obesity epidemic within a generation. Three medals were awarded to the city.

According to a press release from Mary Lynn Richards with the Hannibal Parks and Recreation Department:

The medals were awarded because of Hannibal’s achievement in mapping all playspaces, completing a needs assessment of playspaces, developing an action plan and launching at least three proven policies, programs or initiatives from the action plan to continue to increase access to physical activity."
