The Chillicothe Paints broke open a close game in the late innings, knocking off the visiting Hannibal Hoots 10--2 Wednesday night.

Hannibal starter Quinton Kujawa gave up single runs in the second and third and three in the fourth.

The Hoots broke through in the sixth, scratching out a run on a single, two hit batsmen and a wild pitch. They made it 5-2 in the seventh on a two-out single by second baseman Richie Well and a double by center fielder Patrick Donahue.

The roof caved in on Hannibal in the eighth, when Chillicothe scored five times on a bases loaded hit by pitch, a bases loaded triple and a wild pitch.

With the win, the Paints improve to 4-2, while the loss drops the Hoots to 3-5.

Hannibal looks for payback Thursday night at Chillicothe, with Hannibal native Dalton Overstreet scheduled to start on the mound for the Hoots.
