Child Run Over by Horse-Drawn Hay Cutter in Lewis Co

(Monticello, Mo)—A child was rushed to Blessing Hospital after he was run over by a hay cutter Thursday morning.  The Lewis County Sheriff’s Department says the call came in just after 11 a.m.

The accident happened near 157^th Street in Monticello when 12 year-old Sam Elchor fell off the horse-drawn hay cutter he had been operating.  Elchor was run over by one of the wheels.  The extent of his injuries was not disclosed.

Canton Fire Protection District personnel assisted Lewis County Deputies at the scene.
