After a chance of rain Monday, a more typical August week is forecast for northeast Missouri and western Illinois.

National Weather Service forecasters call for a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms from mid-afternoon through late evening Monday. That's the only chance of rain in the forecast through the weekend.

High temperatures for the week start at 84 Monday, with a week-long rise to 89 by Sunday.

Lows start in the mid-60s, drop to the low 60s through mid-week, then climb to the upper 60s for the weekend.

The drier forecast comes on the heels of June and July, which go into the record books as two of the wettest on record.
