(Hancock County, Ill)—A Carthage man was found injured in a ditch after being struck by a hit and run driver.

Hancock County authorities report 33 year-old Jason Newberry was riding a bike on 400 North near West Point at 8 p.m. Friday. He was traveling westbound when his bike was struck by a westbound car.  Deputies found him in the ditch about 20 minutes later. Newberry sustained unspecified injuries and was flown to Blessing Hospital by Air Evac.

The driver of the car did not report the accident. Investigators later made an arrest at a residence in West Point.  Forty-nine year-old Tammy Yates is facing charges of Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident and Driving Under the Influence.  Yates is lodged in the Hancock County Jail with bail set at $50,000.
