In the town where I live, the carnival is in town this week, complete with the usual rides and food booths. My wife tells me that supper tonight will be at the carnival. That got me to thinking -- what would be the quintessential carnival meal? For me, a carnival meal consists of four courses: corn dog (with ketchup and a little mustard), curly fries (the more salt the better, and maybe cheese sauce), a lemon shake-up, with a funnel cake for dessert (with at least powdered sugar on top). I have no idea how many calories would be wrapped up in such a meal, but if that's what you're hungry for, does it really matter? Not to mention that, at carnival prices, you could probably a pretty good meal in a pretty good restaurant for the same money. But, again, if that's what you're hungry for...

And, I haven't even talked about delicacies like deep fried Twinkies and chocolate covered bacon.
