ATLANTA (AP) - Matt Holliday hit a solo homer and the St. Louis Cardinals scored four unearned runs on three errors to beat the Atlanta Braves 6-3 in the NL wild-card game. The game was delayed 19 minutes in the bottom of the eighth after left-field umpire Sam Holbrook called for the infield fly rule on a dropped popup with one out and runners on second and third. Fans threw garbage on the field, and the Braves eventually loaded the bases with two out before Michael Bourn struck out to end the threat.
