ST. LOUIS (AP) - John Lackey was dominant into the ninth inning and gave the St. Louis Cardinals an unexpected bonus with two hits and an RBI in a 6-2 victory over the Miami Marlins Saturday night.

Mark Reynolds' three-run home run in the sixth put the Cardinals ahead by four and Randal Grichuk hit his 15th homer in the first. Rookie Stephen Piscotty had three hits and scored twice, helping the Cardinals win their eighth out of 10.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Salvador Perez homered to lead off a six-run second inning, Johnny Cueto won his second consecutive start for Kansas City, and the Royals rolled to a 9-4 victory over the Los Angeles Angels Saturday night. Cueto allowed one run and eight hits over eight innings, striking out four without a walk.

CHICAGO (AP) - Jake Arrieta pitched into the seventh inning and the Chicago Cubs won their ninth straight to match their longest streak in seven seasons, beating the crosstown White Sox 6-3 Saturday night at U.S. Cellular Field. The Cubs matched their longest streak since they reeled off nine in a row during the 2008 NL Central championship season and made it 15 wins in 16 games. White Sox manager Robin Ventura was ejected during the seventh inning.

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) -Kansas City backup Chase Daniel threw for three touchdowns and the Chiefs beat the Cardinals 34-19 in the teams' preseason opener Saturday night. Arizona defensive back Tyrann Mathieu intercepted Alex Smith's pass on the Chiefs' first possession to set up a field goal to put Arizona up 10-0. The Kansas City reserves scored the next 31 points. Daniel was 17 for 29 for 189 yards in less than two quarters of play.
