C.H.A.R.T. Partnership to Feature ‘Mindfulness – Motivating Adoption of Healthier Choices’

The Northeast Missouri C.H.A.R.T. Partnership meeting on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 will feature Candance Gabel, MS, RD, LD, who will share information regarding Mindfulness – Motivating Adoption of Healthier Choices. The C.H.A.R.T. Partnership meets the third Wednesday of each month at Fiddlestiks in Hannibal with lunch at 11:30 a.m. followed by a program and the meeting at Noon. Healthcare and social services organizations and leaders throughout Northeast Missouri are encouraged to participate.

Ms. Gabel will share the following during her visit with the CHART Partnership: “Living in the moment, being able to focus, making decisions, achieving a healthy weight....all of these concepts are the outcome of being Mindful. During this "Mindfulness" presentation you will learn what Mindfulness is, why it is important, the benefit of being more Mindful, and a couple of Mindful techniques that will help you focus and enjoy eating.”

Ms. Gabel is a registered dietitian with a Master’s Degree in Nutrition. She just celebrated her 24th year of working for the University of Missouri Extension. She is the Assistant Program Director for the College of Human Environmental Sciences Extension and the State Coordinator for the Family Nutrition Education Program. She coordinates the Nutrition and Exercise Physiology study abroad course focusing on the Mediterranean Diet and Lifestyle in Greece.

The Northeast Missouri C.H.A.R.T. Partnership meets each month to encourage and support initiatives which enhance the health and vitality of residents of Lewis, Marion, Monroe, Pike, Ralls and Shelby counties. The C.H.A.R.T. Partnership serves as a vehicle for regular dialogue among regional health leaders, encouraging a shared understanding of regional health challenges and the emergence of activity designed to enhance the health and wellbeing of residents of the region.
