A Monroe City man has been honored by the Missouri Highway Patrol for his help with the search for a missing person last November.

At a ceremony Monday, Ollie “Butch” Pennewell was presented with a Missouri State Highway Patrol Honorary Trooper Certificate.

The honor is given to citizens who are nominated by a trooper for preforming in an exemplary manner and under dangerous conditions to aid another person, or when they unselfishly give of themselves to assist troopers in the performance of their duties.

On November 13th of last year, Pennewell, who is a private pilot, assisted in the search for Raffaella Stroik in the Mark Twain Lake area.

Pennewell is credited with finding Stroik’s body floating in Mark Twain Lake while searching from the air.
