A Burlington Northern Santa Fe train derailed south of Medill in Clark County Friday afternoon.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Department reports the derailment happened about 1:45 p.m.

Spokesmen for BNSF report six cars carrying multiple containers on a stacked train derailed but it’s unclear why.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that no one was injured and hazardous materials were not involved.

The derailment closed a gravel road south of Highway 136, but traffic on 136 was not affected.

Authorities said Friday they expected crews to work into the night to clear the tracks and reopen that gravel road.
