Authorities are working to determine the identity of a body pulled from the Missouri River.

The body of a male was recovered Tuesday afternoon near Jefferson City. Missouri State Highway Patrol spokesman Cpl. Scott White says a search began Monday evening when a hiker reported seeing a body in the water near Rocheport.

White said decomposition made it impossible to determine the man's race or hair color. An autopsy will be performed.

Cooper County Sheriff Jerry Wolfe said the department had no reports of a missing person.
