A Hannibal businessman whose roots in the community go back well over a hundred years was selected for the Hannibal Area Chamber of Commerce’s top award Saturday night.

At its 109th annual meeting, the chamber announced the selection of Bob Heiser as its Pacesetter Award winner.

Heiser, along with being the fifth generation of his family to run Crescent Jewelers, has held many titles, including Marion County Commissioner, and Hannibal Harbor Commissioner.

Other award winners included Shoe Sensations and Patriot Painting as New Businesses of the Year. The James O’Donnell Funeral Home won the Civic Contributor Award, and the Community Betterment Award was shared by the Hannibal Public Schools, Clarity Healthcare and the Big River Steampunk Festival.
