How many of us have asked for a bicycle for Christmas? Pretty much everyone, right? Here's a terrific idea. A program called "Bikes for Tikes" is accepting donations of used bicycles, repairing them, and then donating the bikes to The Salvation Army.

Bikes for Tikes is going on through December 15. Used bicycles can be dropped off at Shottenkirk Chevrolet at 24th and Locust in Quincy. Shottenkirk will then do the repair work and deliver the fixed-up bicycles to The Salvation Army.

This is one of those win-win situations. Bike owners can clear the garage of any bicycles their kids have outgrown, and a child that really wants a bike for Christmas can get one from The Salvation Army.
