The phenomenon known as Steampunk returns to downtown Hannibal this Labor Day weekend.

The fourth annual Big River Steampunk Festival rolls into town, with a kickoff event on Friday at Cave Hollow West Winery.

According to event organizer Lisa Marks, Friday’s event is advertised as the inaugural meeting of the Society for Fermented Alchemy, with wine, craft beer, and more.

The festival starts in earnest Saturday, with a parade and opening ceremonies on Main Street at 10 a.m., with three full days of attractions, running through 4 p.m. Monday.
