(UNDATED)-  With the re-opening of Lock and Dam 25 at Winfield, barge traffic is expected to resume.

Some of the locks along the Mississippi River, including those at Saverton, Clarksville and Winfield, had been closed due to flooding concerns. The decision was made to protect electrical components. Some locks were closed for almost two weeks.

The Corps of Engineers said Lock 25 at Winfield was the last to re-open. A flood warning remained in effect, with the river five feet above flood stage.

An estimated 60 percent of all U.S. grain exports travels down the Mississippi and its tributaries.
