A southern Illinois high school's band director is accused of taking inappropriate photographs of a 14-year-old girl at a thrift store.

Forty-year-old Carterville High School employee Michael Norrington is charged with unauthorized video recording. He was arrested Wednesday, a day after the alleged misconduct.

Carbondale Police Chief Jody O'Guinn say the alleged victim and her parents were at a Goodwill store in Carbondale when the parents saw Norrington point his cell phone up the teenager's shorts and take pictures.

Police say the parents logged Norrington's license plate and called police, who went to Norrington's home and seized his cell phone.

After Norrington's court appearance Thursday, his attorney, Mike Wepsiec, said his client plans to plead not guilty.

Norrington has taught in Carterville since 1997.
