A Quincy man gets less than a year in jail and probation Wednesday in connection with the shooting death of his friend.

21 year old Zachary Ballinger pleaded guilty in August to involuntary manslaughter as part of a plea deal. In return, Ballinger gets 362 days in jail, 30 months probation and a $10,000 fine.

Ballinger is alleged to have pointed a rifle at his friend, 21 year old Austin Herman, and pulled the trigger. The incident occurred at a residence in the 3000 block of South 24th Street last March.
