Attorneys for the City of Quincy and the Quincy Police Department asked Tuesday for a partial dismissal of the civil rights lawsuit brought by Curtis Lovelace.

Lovelace was found not guilty of the murder of his first wife, Corey Lovelace, by a Sangamon County jury earlier this year.

Shortly after his acquittal, Lovelace filed an eleven count lawsuit, claiming he was deprived of his constitutional right to a fair trial.

Attorneys have asked for dismissal of ten of the eleven counts, which includes counts against the City of Quincy, Adams County, the county State’s Attorney and Coroner and more than a half dozen members of the Quincy Police Department.

The other plaintiffs in the suit include Lovelace’s sons, daughter-in-law and grandson.
