A St. Louis area state senator who wants to be Missouri’s next Attorney General was in Hannibal for Democrat Days Saturday.

Scott Sifton was elected to the Missouri House in 2010 and defeated a Republican incumbent for a state senate seat in 2012.

Along the way, Sifton has been a practicing attorney for a St. Louis law firm. That, along with his younger days serving as a clerk for then-Attorney General Jay Nixon, gives Sifton the experience he believes qualifies him to be the next Attorney General.

If elected in 2016, Sifton would succeed Chris Koster, who will likely run for governor.

Koster was the keynote at the Democrat Days brunch Saturday. Secretary of State and senatorial candidate Jason Kander was the featured speaker for the banquet Saturday night.
